Dip into the Gospels: a Four-Fold Story (Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John)
October 2 @ 6:30 pm - 7:15 pm
When considering the four gospels – Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John– the Bible reader stands as if she is a MPPD investigating officer who has arrived on the scene of an incident at the intersection of Johnnie Dodds and Houston Northcutt. She finds four bystanders who witnessed what happened and are eager to give their statements. As she listens to each individual, the investigator discovers that the four accounts are not the same – a new detail here, a different emphasis there. Yet, her experience helps her weave a coherent story that tells a fuller truth than that of a single witness.
On Wednesdays from Oct. 2-23, we’ll be that investigator as we dip into the gospel accounts of Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. As we pay attention to each witness, we can expect to find a fuller and more coherent story of the life, work, and words of Jesus of Nazareth. Instead of one witness, God uses four different voices to speak in their day… and in ours.
Exploring one gospel per week, each session will take place after dinner on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:15 pm – Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23 in Grace Hall 123/125. Dinner for adults will begin at 5:45. Registration is requested here for dinner so we can plan for plenty of food! No registration is required for the program. Come as you are!
