All Saints Vesper Service of Remembrance

Held in the evening, this service will focus on remembering and honoring those who have passed away during the year, with prayers, spiritual reflection and gathering of friends and family. The choir along with musicians from the Charleston Symphony will be presenting John Rutter’s Requiem as a part of this service. The Requiem was written in 1985 in memory of his father who had died earlier that year. In his own words: “I wanted to write an intimate requiem rather than grandiose, contemplative and lyrical rather than dramatic, a work that moves us closer to the light rather than darkness.” This is an extremely moving work that shows joy among the sorrow and pain and brings us to Christ’s light thought music.
