Vacation Bible School

Join us June 19-23, 2023 on an epic adventure as we travel to Jesus’ time in Jerusalem!

Welcome to Marketplace 29 A.D.! News is alive with amazing stories of Jesus. Jewish shops in the market are busy as the shopkeepers open their stores for business. The jewelry maker, carpenter, basket weaver, brick maker and baker are at their shops early getting a head start on the day. The candle and soap shops are unpacking their supplies. Fresh leather hangs from the tent ceilings. Synagogue school is open this week and the Arena has a full slate of games.

Vacation Bible School at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church this year comes alive with sights, sounds and smells of the First Century Jewish Marketplace and Temple. Children will live in family tribes and travel throughout the day with their families as they experience life as it might have been during the times of Jesus. Authentic Jewish customs, music, dancing, and crafts are employed.

VBS is a community effort, and we need you to help!

There are many areas to volunteer, and all are welcomed and encouraged to volunteer to make this a memorable week for our children. You do not have to have children participating to volunteer, but please use this link to register so we can contact you with details prior to VBS. Thank you for showing your love and commitment to our children by serving with your time and talents!

**Volunteer registration is required first if you intend to register your child(ren) in VBS as a way to honor our Baptismal commitment to the children of our church and community.

**After you register as as volunteer, you will be sent a link to register your child(ren). This volunteer registration does not guarantee a spot for your child(ren). You must also register your child on the separate registration. We have limited numbers of child registrations this year, so please be prompt in registering your child once you have received the link.

Available volunteer roles:

• Shepherds (full week commitment- greatest need!): Help guide our VBS participants through all the fun of VBS! Your role is to provide safe passage from one activity to another while enjoying plenty of laughs along the way. This is a great way to get to know the children.
• Place me anywhere (full week commitment): We appreciate your flexibility and desire to serve! By choosing this option you will be helping and facilitating (not teaching or planning!) in any of our fun VBS areas: crafts, science, Bible time, music, snack, recreation, mission, or even helping with drop off and pick up of children. We need all hands on deck!
• Place me anywhere (partial week commitment): We appreciate your flexibility and desire to serve! By choosing this option you will be helping and facilitating (not teaching or planning!) in any of our fun VBS areas: crafts, science, Bible time, music, snack, recreation, mission, or even helping with drop off and pick up of children. We need all hands on deck!
• Mini – VBS (full week or partial week commitment): Come and help nurture our youngest children (babies – 3-year olds) who aren’t quite old enough to participate in the full blown VBS yet but have a parent volunteering for VBS.

Off-Campus volunteer roles (Reserved for parents/guardians unable to be on campus during VBS hours):

• Decorate/Set Up: Decorating will start a few weeks before VBS but the bulk of decorating will be done the week before VBS starts, and it is important you are available that week (June 11-18)
• Break Down/Clean Up: Help take down decorations on Friday, June 23 immediately following the end of VBS. You will also get to see how much of our decorations are donated to help other churches transform their walls for VBS.
• Pre-VBS Prep: There are many opportunities to help the Leadership team prior to the week of VBS. This includes but is not limited to snack prep, craft prep, science prep, supply gathering, donations, etc. Sign up for this option and we will contact you for help leading up to kick off.
