Shenwei Geng

Organist

Shenwei Geng is a performer, educator, and collaborator. She is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate in piano performance at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, where she also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Conservatory, teaching both group and applied piano lessons.
Shenwei received her Master of Music in piano performance from Michigan State University. She was honored to participate in the Brevard Music Festival in Brevard, NC, in 2018, where she performed and gave lectures at various venues.

Actively engaged in professional organizations, Shenwei is a dedicated member of the MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) and Mu Phi Epsilon, and has presented multiple times at MTNA National Conferences, and served as a judge for MTNA competitions. Her dedication to music education has been recognized with honors, including the Kansas City Music Club Scholarship and the UMKC Women’s Council Awards in 2022 and 2023 for her innovative keyboard pedagogical projects.

Shenwei found her faith and was baptized while studying in Michigan as an international student. Since then, she has joyfully served in various denominations of churches throughout the U.S., including Methodist, Catholic, and Presbyterian congregations.

Shenwei loves interacting with people from different cultures and backgrounds. In addition to performing and teaching, she enjoys cooking, traveling and crafting the perfect pour-over coffee. She and her husband, Hrant, also a pianist, now live in Charleston where they continue to share their love of music and faith with the community.
