Pacesetters: Taryn Phelan

On Friday, Feb. 13 from 5:30-8 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, come and meet MPPC Choir Soprano Taryn Phelan as she presents a Valentine’s Day program of song and music accompanied by Dr. Shenwei Geng. Taryn is a soprano with a grand voice who leaves her audiences breathless and the windows rattling. She will offer a variety of musical genres that were popular when Pacesetters were even younger than they are now and first in love. Menu will include chicken breasts, pork loin, potatoes, vegetables, salad, and a chocolate desert.

More about Taryn:

Taryn Phelan graduated from Charleston Southern University with a degree in Vocal Performance and a Theatre minor in 2016. During her time at CSU, she was instructed by Dr. Jill Lewis and Thomas Keating. In high school she attended South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities and studied under Thomas Dickinson. During the summer of 2014 and 2016, Taryn placed as a Semifinalist in the national NATS competition. She has been in numerous productions and workshops. Some of her principal roles include Maria in West Side Story, Marian in The Music Man, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance and Naomi from an original opera, Ruth. She is currently the principal soprano for Small Opera Company, which she joined in 2020.
