SUMMARY:Dip into the Gospels: a Four-Fold Story (Mark\, Matthew\, Luke\, and John)
DESCRIPTION:When considering the four gospels – Mark\, Matthew\, Luke\, and John– the Bible reader stands as if she is a MPPD investigating officer who has arrived on the scene of an incident at the intersection of Johnnie Dodds and Houston Northcutt. She finds four bystanders who witnessed what happened and are eager to give their statements. As she listens to each individual\, the investigator discovers that the four accounts are not the same – a new detail here\, a different emphasis there. Yet\, her experience helps her weave a coherent story that tells a fuller truth than that of a single witness. \nOn Wednesdays from Oct. 2-23\, we’ll be that investigator as we dip into the gospel accounts of Mark\, Matthew\, Luke\, and John. As we pay attention to each witness\, we can expect to find a fuller and more coherent story of the life\, work\, and words of Jesus of Nazareth. Instead of one witness\, God uses four different voices to speak in their day… and in ours. \nExploring one gospel per week\, each session will take place after dinner on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:15 pm – Oct. 2\, 9\, 16\, 23 in Grace Hall 123/125. Dinner for adults will begin at 5:45. Registration is requested here for dinner so we can plan for plenty of food! No registration is required for the program. Come as you are!

SUMMARY:Pacesetters: The Agee Duo
DESCRIPTION:The October Pacesetters program will feature the David and Margaret Agee Duo on Friday\, October 11! \nDavid and Margaret Agee joined Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church in 1985. Since they married in 1984\, they have performed together in many different venues\, with David playing guitar and Margaret singing. They love to perform songs from popular female artists like Allison Kraus to Trisha Yearwood to Lady Gaga\, with some old timey hymns and even a little bluegrass mixed in! \nDoors will open at 5:30 for appetizers followed by a catered meal at 6 p.m. and then the performance will begin at 7 p.m. More details regarding the dinner menu will be available closer to the event! The catered meal costs $20 at the door. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Blessing of the Animals Worship Service as we express our thanks for God’s creative power and sustaining care and acknowledge God’s call to us to be stewards of creation and especially the animals that are placed in our care. This service will take place at 4 p.m. on Sunday\, Oct. 13th on the Fellowship Hall porch. Please bring your animal companions – leashed or caged\, real or stuffed or represented by a photograph – as well as a chair for sitting\, if desired. We will also be collecting a pet food donation for ECCO.

DESCRIPTION:Consecration Sunday services will be held on Sunday\, Oct. 27th at 8:30 and 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Please join us at either of these services to reflect on the ways that you may want to give toward the mission and ministry of God’s Kingdom and Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church\, and we will be asking God to bless the pledges we have received and those that we hope to still receive. In between services\, we will hold a special breakfast in the Fellowship Hall featuring a combined Sunday School lesson for all adult classes! Adults ages 55 and up will gather on Monday\, Oct. 28 at noon in the Fellowship Hall for a covered dish lunch and presentation. \nFor the last 50 years\, Warren Peper has been informing and entertaining Lowcountry residents through television broadcasts and newspaper columns. He remains a familiar face and trusted voice in the Lowcountry. Multiple times he was named S.C. Sportscaster of the year\, the Charleston Sports Council recognized him with a Lifetime Achievement Award and he was selected to the Media section of the S.C. Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1991\, he won an Emmy for his coverage of The Ryder Cup played at Kiawah Island.
