SUMMARY:Women's Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Make plans now to attend MPPC Women’s Retreat 2026! Our theme is “Come to the Well.” The retreat will be held January 23-25\, 2026 at West Beach Conference Center on Kiawah. The cost is $225. \nWhat’s Included: \nThe $225 registration fee includes breakfast and lunch on Saturday\, breakfast on Sunday\, Friday evening Happy Hour (cash bar) and retreat materials. All the activities\, studies\, & food will be at West Beach Conference Center. Accommodation reservations are separate and that you pay to Kiawah. Dinner on Friday and Saturday nights is on your own. There is also a Saturday only rate of $140 which includes breakfast and lunch. \nRegistration: \nThere are two methods to pay and register (Must be paid in full by November 24\, 2025): \n\nPay and register on Realm here (additional fees may incur).\nPayment by check and print the form found here and complete it. Make check payable to MPPC with “Women’s Retreat 2026” in the memo line. Drop off the check with the form attached at the church or mail it to MPPC 302 Hibben St Mt Pleasant\, SC 29464. Please mark the envelope “Attention Peggy Leete.”\n\nIf you prefer to pay and register online via Realm but are experiencing difficulties\, come by the church during office hours and Trish Snead can get you registered. \nAccommodations: \nThis year you can choose your own accommodations by calling phone number 888-601-4904 and referencing the MPPC retreat and the group booking number of 513. Calls will be returned within 72 hours in the order received. Kiawah offers villas ranging from 1 – 4 bedrooms\, private homes (4 – 8 bedrooms) and even accommodations at the Sanctuary if you desire. You will receive a 10% discount off the published online rate\, but you need to give them the group booking number. This rate will be available two days before and after the event dates; however\, the extension of days for the 10% discount is not available on private homes. \nOne night’s deposit is all that is needed to book the reservation. One person in the group can call to reserve the accommodation and pay the one night. That person will need to give the names of the others in the villa or house\, but each can pay at time of arrival. \nDeadline for registering is November 24\, 2025. We strongly encourage all women to make accommodation reservations as soon as possible as they fill up and you might not be able to book the villa or home that you want. Remember that we are not the only ones at Kiawah doing those dates and others can certainly make reservations. Get your group together quickly and call!! \nThe cost last year: \n\n2 bedroom villa starts at $233 / night or $426 for both nights depending on the location of the villa – ex: golf course view or ocean view.\n3 bedroom villa starts at $231 / night or $462 for both nights depending on the location of the villa – ex: golf course view or ocean view.\n\nPlease know that if you have signed up for the Women’s Retreat\, you need to register through the church AND through Kiawah. If someone has reserved a condo that you will be staying in\, please ask the attendee who reserved the condo for the group to call Peggy Leete (843) 532-7923 to let the committee know who else is in your condo. The nine scripture lessons are those traditionally used at the festival on Christmas Eve\, while the carols and choral anthems are provided to accompany each passage of scripture.

SUMMARY:Angel Tree Gifts Due Back
DESCRIPTION:As members of MPPC\, we’re called to love and support our neighbors. The Angel Tree is a wonderful way to spread Christmas joy to children and families in our community. \nThis year\, the Angel Tree serves nine area elementary and Windwood Farms. In late October\, we reached out to guidance counselors at each school to identify families who would benefit from our program. Families provide us with a wish list of items that would be meaningful for their children. \nHow to Participate: The Angel Tree is displayed in the Fellowship Hall. Simply visit the tree to select an angel. Each child has one angel on the tree\, complete with a wish list for clothes and toys. You’re welcome to purchase any or all of the suggested items-choose what feels right for you. \nImportant Deadline: Please bring your wrapped gifts (or gifts in gift bags) to the church by December 14th and place them in the Fellowship Hall. \nThank you for your generosity and for being a blessing to our neighbors this Christmas season.

DESCRIPTION:Christmas on Four Hands: Music for Piano and Organ by Harant Bagrazyan and Shenwei Geng\nSunday\, December 7\, 4:30 PM\, Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church \nCelebrate the holiday season with the sounds of Christmas performed on the piano and organ by Harant Bagrazyan and Shenwei Geng. \nHRANT BAGRAZYAN\nDescribed by the Armenian Weekly as a “technical wizard” and a pianist of “rich emotions”\, an award-winning pianist Hrant Bagrazyan explores repertoire ranging from the Baroque era to modern times. \nHrant Bagrazyan has performed in Armenia\, Belgium\, Poland\, China\, and the United States. Living in the US since 2009\, Hrant has made notable appearances on the American classical stage which included his orchestra debut as a soloist with Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra at the 3\,000-seat Hawkins Centennial Chapel in 2014 and a solo recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 2018. Dr. Bagrazyan has also performed with other acclaimed orchestras such as Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra\, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra and Heights Chamber Orchestra. \nDr. Bagrazyan has won top awards in many international competitions\, including 3rd Prize in Aram Khachaturian International Piano Competition (2007\, Yerevan\, Armenia)\, 1st Prize in Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra International Young Artist Competition (2014\, Bourbonnais\, IL) and 1st Prize in San Jose International Piano Competition (2015\, San Jose\, CA). In October 2016\, Hrant won the Outstanding Performance Award at NTD International Piano Competition in New York. Dr. Bagrazyan has participated in music festivals\, most notably as a guest performer at the gala concert of Sergei Babayan International Academy in 2013.\nHe has toured in China since 2022\, performing recitals and teaching masterclasses in concert halls and universities. Being a native of Armenia\, Mr. Bagrazyan also actively champions music of Armenian composers \nIn addition to his solo career\, Dr. Bagrazyan is an active chamber musician. He has collaborated extensively with acclaimed Armenian American cellist Suren Bagratuni. Their recent projects include the release of a double album titled Songs of My Childhood\, described by Blue Griffin Records as “beautiful\, charming\, virtuosic\, [and] exciting\,” as well as newly released recordings of Brahms’ Cello Sonatas this year. \nHaving studied with world famous mentors such as Igor Yavryan\, Sergei Babayan\, HaeSun Paik and Margarita Shevchenko\, Mr. Bagrazyan has earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Michigan State University College of Music\, Master of Music\, Artist Diploma and Professional Studies degrees from Cleveland Institute of Music\, and the bachelor’s degree from Yerevan State Conservatory. He is currently a piano faculty member at Charleston Southern University. \n  \nSHENWEI GENG\nShenwei Geng is a performer\, educator\, and collaborator. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from the University of Missouri–Kansas City\, where she also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Conservatory\, teaching both group and applied piano lessons. \nShe earned her Master of Music in piano performance from Michigan State University and was honored to participate in the Brevard Music Festival in Brevard\, NC\, in 2018\, where she performed and gave lectures at various venues. \nActively engaged in professional organizations\, Shenwei is a dedicated member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and Mu Phi Epsilon. She has presented multiple times at MTNA National Conferences and served as a judge for MTNA competitions. Her commitment to music education has been recognized through honors including the Kansas City Music Club Scholarship and UMKC Women’s Council Awards in 2022 and 2023 for her innovative work in keyboard pedagogy. \nShenwei serves as the organist at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church and teaches music at Pinewood Preparatory School in Summerville. In addition to performing and teaching\, she enjoys cooking\, traveling\, and perfecting her pour-over coffee. \n
