SUMMARY:Dip into the Gospels: a Four-Fold Story (Mark\, Matthew\, Luke\, and John)
DESCRIPTION:When considering the four gospels – Mark\, Matthew\, Luke\, and John– the Bible reader stands as if she is a MPPD investigating officer who has arrived on the scene of an incident at the intersection of Johnnie Dodds and Houston Northcutt. She finds four bystanders who witnessed what happened and are eager to give their statements. As she listens to each individual\, the investigator discovers that the four accounts are not the same – a new detail here\, a different emphasis there. Yet\, her experience helps her weave a coherent story that tells a fuller truth than that of a single witness. \nOn Wednesdays from Oct. 2-23\, we’ll be that investigator as we dip into the gospel accounts of Mark\, Matthew\, Luke\, and John. As we pay attention to each witness\, we can expect to find a fuller and more coherent story of the life\, work\, and words of Jesus of Nazareth. Instead of one witness\, God uses four different voices to speak in their day… and in ours. \nExploring one gospel per week\, each session will take place after dinner on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:15 pm – Oct. 2\, 9\, 16\, 23 in Grace Hall 123/125. Dinner for adults will begin at 5:45. Registration is requested here for dinner so we can plan for plenty of food! No registration is required for the program. Come as you are!

DESCRIPTION:The time is approaching for our Red Cross Blood Drive.  Every two seconds\, someone in the U.S. needs blood. That’s why MPPC is on a mission to help save lives by hosting a blood drive Monday\, July 22 from 2-6 p.m.  This mission is a way to have an immediate and lasting impact on the community and individual lives and families.   \nAll (church members\, friends\, neighbors\, total strangers!) are invited to take part in this special event and donate blood for hospital patients in our neighborhoods and across the nation. The need for blood is constant\, but only 3 percent of the U.S. population donates.  By rolling up a sleeve\, donors can play a critical role in the treatment of accident and burn victims\, heart surgery and organ transplant patients\, and those receiving treatment for leukemia\, cancer or sickle cell disease. \nWhether you have ever donated or not\, please prayerfully consider signing up and joining us on July 22: \n\n To schedule an appointment (in order of preference):\n\nOption 1: download the Red Cross Blood Donor App to your smartphone and from there you can schedule an appointment time. There is something for everyone’s schedule! Your child’s registration will be processed once your volunteer role & day and payment is complete. \nIf registering a child for Mini-VBS: \nMini-VBS is provided for volunteers the days you are on campus volunteering only. This is for children that are rising 3K and younger\, including the nursery (birthdays ON or AFTER September 1\, 2020). \nMission Opportunity: \nWe are excited to continue offering a mission opportunity at VBS this summer! Plans are already in the works for a special way to include the children and families. God is good\, all the time. DESCRIPTION:Please join in the procession of bagpipes\, Beadle\, Crucifer\, and Tartan Flags as we celebrate The Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan service on April 28th at 8:30 and 11 a.m. \nAfter the Battle of Culloden\, 1746\, the British forbade traditional Scottish heritage for nearly 50 years. During that time\, the Scots would wear a piece of tartan cloth to be blessed by the clergy\, in secret. In 1942\, Rev. Peter Marshall began the Scottish American tradition to further bond the US and UK during WWII. The Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan service represents “a blessing of the family.” It is a worship service that allows us to reflect on the gift of our Presbyterian heritage and the gifts God has given us through our past\, present and future kith and kin. \nYou are encouraged to wear your own tartan apparel – or kilt if you have one! Please join us at either 8:30 or 11 a.m. on April 28th for this special service!

DESCRIPTION:Join us at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church on Friday\, April 26 at 7 p.m. for a lively performance by the Gravel Road Bluegrass Band! We plan to host this concert outside so please bring a chair or a blanket. If the weather is bad\, we will move inside to the Fellowship Hall. This concert is free and open to the public! \nGravel Road Acoustic Trio\, based out of Charleston\, South Carolina\, is made up of three multi-talented musicians whose different backgrounds bring together a unique and exciting mix of music that includes bluegrass\, country\, and popular favorites. Gravel Road performs across the southeast and has appeared on “Lowcountry Live” as well as “Song of the Mountains\,” filmed in Marion\, Virginia. The group’s unique arrangements of tunes along with their vocal harmony precision make them stand out from the average bluegrass band. \n
