DESCRIPTION:Carroll Brown returns for the April 10th Pacesetters event in the Fellowship Hall. Carroll plays venues up and down the coast. He played last year’s March event and was very well received. Carroll will perform a variety of acoustic music with lively commentary. Check out his web page at carrollbrownmusic.com. The event is open to all\, not just our usual 55+ crowd. Come for fellowship\, a catered meal\, and the program\, or just come for the music. All are welcomed. \nDinner is $20/person\, collected at the door. No charge for the program only. SUMMARY:Maundy Thursday
DESCRIPTION:Maundy Thursday Worship\, 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary \nThe word “maundy” is an old English derivative of the Latin word “mandantum\,” which means “commandment.” It is used to identify this day because it was on Thursday evening\, at the Passover meal which we have come to know as “The Last Supper\,” that Jesus said\, “I give you a new commandment\, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you\, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples\, if you have love for one another…This is my commandment\, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this\, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you” (John 13:34-35\, 15:12-14). We will gather in worship around word and sacrament\, remembering this new commandment and considering its call to us today. The service will end in silence with the stripping of the chancel\, a practice dating from the seventh century and originally serving the practical purpose of cleaning the sanctuary in preparation for Easter\, when all things are made new.

The nine scripture lessons are those traditionally used at the festival on Christmas Eve\, while the carols and choral anthems are provided to accompany each passage of scripture.

SUMMARY:Angel Tree Gifts Due Back
DESCRIPTION:As members of MPPC\, we’re called to love and support our neighbors. The Angel Tree is a wonderful way to spread Christmas joy to children and families in our community. \nThis year\, the Angel Tree serves nine area elementary and Windwood Farms. In late October\, we reached out to guidance counselors at each school to identify families who would benefit from our program. Families provide us with a wish list of items that would be meaningful for their children. \nHow to Participate: The Angel Tree is displayed in the Fellowship Hall. Simply visit the tree to select an angel. Each child has one angel on the tree\, complete with a wish list for clothes and toys. You’re welcome to purchase any or all of the suggested items-choose what feels right for you. \nImportant Deadline: Please bring your wrapped gifts (or gifts in gift bags) to the church by December 14th and place them in the Fellowship Hall. \nThank you for your generosity and for being a blessing to our neighbors this Christmas season.
