SUMMARY:Music & Arts Camp: In The Image
DESCRIPTION:The MPPC music ministry invites you to join us for another musical-in-a-week camp! \nIn The Image by Mark Burrows\nRising 1st grade- 8th grade\nJuly 27- July 31 (performance during 10 am worship on 8/2)\n9am-12pm\n$75/child\nRegistration on Realm open now at this link! \nWhat does it mean to be created in the image of God? \nThrough humor and exploration\, this play helps children realize that being created in the image of God isn’t just about how you look but about the attributes of God that show forth in your life! All children will have the opportunity to work on all areas of the musical\, but we realize that some children have more specific interests and talents they want to hone\, so in that spirit\, we will be offering TWO different camp tracks this year: primarily music & theater OR primarily visual art. \nQuestions? Email Lauren or Tony! LHouston@MPPC.net or TSane@MPPC.net

SUMMARY:Beautiful\, Broken\, Beloved: A Sermon Series for America’s 250th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:As Christians\, we are called to neither idolize nor despise our nation. Instead\, we practice faithful citizenship under the lordship of Jesus Christ. As we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States of America\, we will consider early texts that shaped our civic identity and ideals\, alongside Scripture. As we move toward this momentous milestone\, may we tell the truth about who we are as a nation—beautiful\, broken\, beloved. Our nation’s foundation includes beautiful aspirations\, our common life is broken in many ways\, and yet we remain beloved by God. God calls every people\, in every nation\, toward justice\, mercy\, repentance\, and hope. \nJune 7th – “The New Colossus” by Emma Lazarus; Matthew 9:9-13\, 18-26\nJune 14th – “The Declaration of Independence” by Thomas Jefferson; Psalm 116: 1-2\, 12-19\nJune 21st – “America the Beautiful” by Katharine Lee Bates; Romans 6:1b-11\nJune 28th – “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” by Frederick Douglass; Matthew 10:40-42\nJuly 5th – “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by James Weldon Johnson; Psalm 145:8-14 \nThis sermon series is inspired by the interfaith work of faith250 which invites clergy and community leaders from multiple faiths to consider the meaning and blessing of our country’s founding.

SUMMARY:Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan
DESCRIPTION:Please join in the procession of bagpipes\, Beadle\, Crucifer\, and Tartan Flags as we celebrate the Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan service on Sunday\, May 17 during worship. \nAfter the Battle of Culloden\, 1746\, the British forbade traditional Scottish heritage for nearly 50 years. During that time\, the Scots would wear a piece of tartan cloth to be blessed by the clergy\, in secret. In 1942\, Rev. Peter Marshall began the Scottish American tradition to further bond the US and UK during WWII. The Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan service represents “a blessing of the family.” It is a worship service that allows us to reflect on the gift of our Presbyterian heritage and the gifts God has given us through our past\, present and future kith and kin. \nYou are encouraged to wear your own tartan apparel – or kilt if you have one! Please join us at either 8:30 or 11 a.m. on May 17th for this special service!
