Take Me Back to Harlem By The Journey Performing Arts Ministries
February 19, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

The MPPC Bridge Builders are hosting the Take Me Back to Harlem performance in the Fellowship Hall on February 19th at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Set in Patty’s Bar in Harlem in the 1940s, Take Me Back to Harlem sets the stage for an imagined conversation between Langson Hughes and his longstanding literary character, Jesse B. Semple. Take Me Back to Harlem brings Semple to life to plumb the depths of the human experience to the backdrop of Jazz and the Blues. In Patty’s Bar, they cover topics from race to religion to politics to matters of the heart. The Journey’s premiere secular piece, this play is an opportunity for audiences of all ages to engage Hughes from history to the present.
The production is a fundraiser for The Journey’s After School Program in Columbia.
