Gathering Around Book (The GAB Group)
August 27, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
4th Friday of each month during happy hour 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Do you love to read and discuss what you have read with fellow bibliophiles? This new offering may be just what you looking for! Each month we will read and discuss a fiction or non-fiction book which may not be overtly religious, but contains content and themes that can be discussed from a faith perspective.
August 27 – Nomadland by Jessica Bruder
The August GAB book Nomadland by Jessica Bruder was the inspiration for the film which was awarded the most recent Best Picture Oscar. One reviewer has written, “This is an important book.… A calmly stated chronicle of devastation. But told as story after story, it is also a riveting collection of tales about irresistible people―quirky, valiant people who deserve respect and a decent life.”
September 24 – Abide With Me by Elizabeth Strout
October 22 – Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
Even if you have not finished the book (or haven’t even cracked it open and gotten as far as the first page!), you are invited to join in on what promises to be a lively discussion. Signal your desire to drop in on each month’s discussion by registering here. Once you have done this, you will be sent an automatic Zoom link.
