MPPC BLITZ BUILD with HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Since 1976, when Habitat for Humanity was started, this wonderful organization has built over 200,000 homes for people in need around the globe. The local East Cooper Habitat for Humanity (ECHFH) was started in 1990, in the wake of Hurricane Hugo, and to date, they have constructed 48 homes. What a difference this organization makes!

Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church and Palmetto Presbyterian Church partnered with ECHFH for the MPPC Habitat Blitz Build. As a church family, we came together to build a home for a family in our community.
The MPPC blitz build house is nearly finished. During the two blitz weeks and in the period between, many MPPC folks helped build this house on McAdam’s court for our neighbor Janet Washington and her family. There are still a few details to be finished, some interior trim, painting, the driveway and so on. Many of us had the experience of working on the house, often with Janet and her family and friends, and we all join to thank East Cooper Habitat for Humanity for their skillful organization and management of this project. Individuals who would like to help finish the final details of this house or just volunteer to work on a Habitat house can call 881-2600 or go to the website www.eastcooperhabitat.org. Since there are five houses in front of Janet’s to be closed (signing the mortgage contract between the new homeowner and Habitat) and each closing pays off the bank loan for the next lot, it is expected that Janet’s house will close early in the fall. This project has been a great success and we hope to do it again next year. Thanks to all who participated by working on the house, providing meals, or administering the project.
