“The Bruce”
Have you been to “the Bruce?”
On Saturday, December 15th McAdams Court was dedicated in honor of one of our own Mount Pleasant Presbyterian church members Bruce McAdams. Bruce in a thoughtful speech accepting this honor started by quoting Mathew 22: 35-39 which says,
“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. and a second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Bruce in his humble manner continued by accepting the naming of McAdams Court “in honor of the many, many people who have responded to this command and I congratulate all of those many of whom are here today who have contributed to building up of East Cooper Habitat for Humanity.”
It was a great celebration and Bruce is an example of one person among many who in this congregation have heard Christ’s call to go out and serve. Bruce should be congratulated for this well-deserved honor and we are blessed to have him in this community.
By the way the nickname, “the Bruce” came from the Habitat for Humanity staff who have affectionately renamed McAdams court “the Bruce.” When you see Bruce around congratulate him on this award and tell him that you will see him at “the Bruce.” Your service and support for Habitat would be the greatest way that we can honor Bruce’s commitment and leadership.
